In a world that demands transparency and accountability, our wool comes from farms which have a progressive approach to managing their land, practice holistic respect for animal welfare of the sheep and respect the Five Freedoms of animal welfare. RWS is one of the most recognised farm auditing schemes that demonstrate positive practice within a UK sheep farming system.
We have been working alongside third party auditors, our farming community and The Woolkeepers®, to supply RWS Woolkeepers® Wool as a globally recognised standard. As the first and only RWS Responsible Wool Standard farm group in the UK and Europe through our Woolkeepers® program we can now give our brands and consumers’ confidence in the integrity of the supply chain, bringing British RWS Wool back into global conversations.

We have always been committed to raising the standards of British wool at the same time supporting farmers in fairer pricing and ensuring the longer-term sustainability of the land and its animals. We have historically worked with the main UK Farm Assurance standard, Red Tractor, to create the Red Tractor Wool Standard, one of the entry-level standards used to support Farm Assurance claims in the UK.
However, we believe that standards can still be higher, hence our drive to set up the Responsible Wool Standard farm network in the UK. RWS is now the leading global standard for responsible wool production that encompasses high animal welfare, how the land is used whilst encouraging a positive impact on biodiversity.

Wool is a natural alternative to synthetics and recognised as a traceable supply of naturally better performance wool. Our wool is sourced through the Woolkeepers®, a community of farmers, together we take these standards seriously and use them as a way of driving positive improvement on their farms. At H Dawson we believe that well-managed sheep can positively improve the land upon which they graze and are a potential means of combating climate change. We connect farmers who aspire to the highest standard of animal welfare, wool quality and land management, and in the process bring expertise, integrity, innovation to reinvent the way wool is used in modern day products.
